November 26, 2022–1st Sunday of Advent Candle Lighting
Stand tall, O Candle. You are an image of our advent waiting. Receive this tiny flame into your heart, and let it transform you into light.
You mirror for us the maiden Mary. She received this Spark, leaping down from the Bright Morning Star and taking flesh in her womb, Jesus our Savior.
Mary’s fiat, her welcoming yes, offered a dwelling place for this Spark to become one with his beloved creation. Jesus’ yes to the Father brings the mercy and kindness of God to dwell among us.
Let this merging of two fiats, Jesus’ and Mary’s, be for us a source of strength, of love and joy that will carry us through our own yes to the Divine in whatever way the Son of God will ask to become flesh in our life during this Advent Season.
