TRINITY SUNDAY

TRINITY SUNDAY

June 12, 2022: A Reflection for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, Yr C

John 16:12-15

Everything that the Father has is mine. (Jn 16:15)

“Everything that the Father has is mine.” Everything. So that includes us! We are in the heart of the Trinity, the mystery of three Persons in one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are gloriously plunged in mystery – and plunged in communion with the Triune God.

Blessed Trinity, there is no way we can fathom your depths – at least not with our minds. Mystery is best ‘understood’ in communion, in the silence of a heart at rest in You and who has let go of the need to know about you but is happy to ‘be’ with you through love. Because everything is yours, everything is a door into your presence. People, nature, music, art all hold a door into your depths. You have made yourself available to us in millions of ways. You fill the universe down to the tiniest atom, so there is not a moment when our spirit and your Spirit cannot be in union.

And Jesus, you have promised to be with us until the end of time and have sent us the Spirit to be our friend and guide and poured forth the love of the Father into our hearts through this same Spirit. We want for nothing, O Good Shepherd.

Triune God, we praise you for your infinite goodness and love that creates us anew in every moment. We thank you for your constant care of all your creatures and for the plan of glory that you have for us all. On this day when we celebrate You in all your mystery and closeness, fill each of us with all the love we can hold and help us to be that love to one another and all creation.
