Our 2023 Christmas newsletter is here!
The biggest event of the year was the April 22nd celebration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of our monastery. Inside the newsletter, you will see a photograph of twenty smiling Trappist Cistercians–our community of ten sisters plus the monks and nuns from eight different monasteries who came to help us celebrate. We have also included Mother Victoria’s special Christmas greeting, and a little blurb about our new Father Immediate.
There is also a photo collage of our 50+ year story for you to enjoy. Santa Rita Abbey was founded February 6, 1972, which actually made us 51 years and 2-1/2 months old by the time that our celebration was held. The artwork featured across the top was hand-painted in 1972 by Sr. Juanita of Mt. St. Mary’s Abbey (our motherhouse) for our founding sisters’ going away party.
And finally, we share some vocation news and a long awaited Retreat House update–we are re-opening on January 17, 2024!
