Hildegard is a Kenya native, called to the monastic life from a young age. When her vocational calling persisted, the Trappist monks at Our Lady of Victoria in Kenya recommended her to the Abbaye N.-D. de Bonne-Esperance in Echourgnac, France. She entered our Order there in 2002, arriving at our monastery in 2019. She serves as one of our dinner cooks, has learned several of the altar bread bakery roles, works in wardrobe, and cheerfully helps out wherever else she is needed. Around the monastery, Hildegard is a graceful, gentle presence with a beautiful smile and playful sense of humor.
