The Generosity and Abundance of God

Truly we are not restricted in you, O Lord,

for you give profusely.

Nor do you give only to a few,

nor only a few gifts,

not in a parsimonious or niggardly way,

but anticipating our merits

and surpassing our desires.

No, in you we are not restricted

but we are restricted in our inmost affections.

Possessed of promises so great, my most beloved,

let us also extend ourselves;

let us extend ourselves to desire,

that we may be extended to receive.
