Happy Easter! All of us here send our love and prayers for a most blessed and joyous season to all. Spring has definitely come to the high desert here in Sonoita. Banks of purple and yellow iris wave greetings in the sonoran winds that come at this time of the year. Almost all the trees have greened out, except for the pecan, which is a bit more timid about the cooler mornings. But it won’t be long. Our forsythia have long since bloomed and our pear and plum trees, too. Such a hopeful, vibrant time of year.
It is hard to believe that Lent is over and we are in the Paschal Season. Sometimes time seems to fly like the wind that is whistling by outside my window. Our Holy Week services were peaceful and beautiful in their simplicity. And we seem to have the Lighting of the New Fire down pat now, with no major complications (like uncooperative wood that just won’t take flame) and all went smoothly. Such a rich and deep time of the year when the love of God catches flame in the dry parts of our hearts, much like the new fire, and the human spirit glows with the love of God.
We had a festive meal together with our dear monks of Erlac and our friend, Michael Downey. Every one of the sisters chipped in to contribute her part towards decorating, cooking, liturgy, singing. So many talents in the community! We have been blest. Each of us want to wish you and all your loved ones every joy and blessing in this season of God’s special love for each one of us all. Alleluia! He is risen and is still with us in one another.
